City’s agreement with Pepsi to benefit programs and services
The City of Kansas City, Mo., has signed a five-year agreement with Pepsi Beverages Company (formerly PepsiAmericas) naming Pepsi as the “Official Soft Drink” of the City. This agreement makes Pepsi Beverages Company the official soft drink products and food vending supplier in most City facilities.
The City entered into the agreement with Pepsi Beverages Company to provide a variety of foods and beverage vending options, including healthy choices, for employees and customers, and to maximize the marketing resources available to the City as part of the exclusive agreement. Marketing benefits to the City include promotional, informational and branding panels on cans, Pepsi trucks and vending equipment; and promotional radio tags in Pepsi advertisements.
“We are very pleased to partner with Pepsi and offer their line of quality beverages in our City facilities,” stated Councilman Terry Riley, who sponsored the ordinance to support this initiative. “This agreement is one of the many new business development initiatives undertaken to help the City increase revenue while providing quality service to our community.”
In addition, through internal meters on vending machines and other data collection, the City will be able to better track product consumption to improve sales and the resulting financial rebates to the City.
The agreement also positions the City to establish additional sponsorships for City programs that will benefit Kansas City residents without placing a burden on the City’s General Fund.
"We're excited to offer great tasting Pepsi products to thousands of people in and around the Kansas City area," said Sheila Ward, food service manager for Pepsi Beverages Company. "Kansas City is a vibrant, growing market and this partnership is the latest example of our commitment to serving the community."
Pepsi Beverages Company has subcontracted the snack vending machine portion of the agreement to Bet Lop Vending, in compliance with the City’s Minority/ Women/Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program.
The Pepsi Beverages Company will be managed by the City’s Procurement Services Division of the General Services Department. For more information, contact Cedric Rowan, manager, Procurement Services Division, 816-513-1592.
