Health Department to extend STD clinic hours in April Friday, April 3, 2009
In recognition of Sexually Transmitted Disease Awareness month, the City of Kansas City, Mo., Health Department will temporarily extend the hours of the sexually transmitted disease clinic at 2400 Troost Ave. On April 6, 13, 20 and 27, the clinic will remain open until 6:30 p.m. The extended hours are for testing only. Any treatment will take place during the normal clinic hours.

Electric vehicles to be built at KCI Airport Friday, March 27, 2009
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Aviation Department announced at a news conference today that Smith Electric Vehicles U.S. Corp. will assemble zero-emission all-electric trucks in a reverted portion of the American Airlines overhaul base. SEV U.S. Corp. will use 80,000 square feet of a reverted 280,000-square-foot building formerly used for maintenance and overhaul of aircraft engines, and plans to employ 120 workers by 2010.

The City of Kansas City, Mo., is alerting motorists that extensive construction will result in lane closures on the 12th Street Viaduct starting today. Construction crews will close two lanes of the four lane bridge on the upper deck of the 12th Street Viaduct for about one year. In addition, the middle deck of the structure will be closed during that time to ensure safety.
