United Airlines adds daily nonstop flight from KCI to San Francisco Wednesday, July 8, 2009
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Aviation Department reports that United Airlines will begin new nonstop service from Kansas City International Airport to San Francisco International Airport beginning Oct. 25. The route will be operated once daily each way and is timed to provide passengers with convenient connections to United’s departures to Hawaii and Asia. United operates a hub at San Francisco International Airport with 258 daily departures to 71 nonstop destinations.

Red-light Safety Camera Program expands Thursday, July 2, 2009
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Public Works Department today announced that July 17 is the target date for activating additional red-light safety cameras at the intersections of U.S. Highway 71 and Red Bridge Road, and Bannister Road and I-435.

Health Department notified of second possible heat-related death Tuesday, June 30, 2009
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Health Department has been notified by the Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office that heat exposure was a possible factor in a June 23 death in Kansas City, Mo. This is the second death this year in Kansas City, Mo., where heat is being considered a possible contributor to the death. As with the first reported death, the medical investigation is ongoing, so no additional information can be released at this time.

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Public Works Department is advising residents that although City offices will be closed on July 3, in observance of Independence Day, curbside trash, recycling and bulky collections will still take place on Friday, July 3. The City’s 3-1-1 Action Center, a division of the City Manager’s Office, will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on July 3-4.

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Health Department will offer free, confidential HIV testing June 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in support of National HIV Testing Day, which is June 27. The testing will be provided in the Health Department Atrium, 2400 Troost Ave., on a walk-in basis. Free testing for gonorrhea, Chlamydia and syphilis will also be available at this clinic.
