12th Street Bridge temporarily closed Tuesday, September 1, 2009
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Public Works Department is alerting motorists that the 12th Street Bridge has been temporarily closed. The closure is expected to last at least three days. The closure will allow Public Works crews to address an expansion joint failure and perform preventative maintenance on other expansion joints as needed.

Seasonal flu vaccine available at the Health Department Thursday, August 27, 2009
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Health Department is now offering seasonal flu shots. Adults and children age 3 and up can get their flu shots at the Health Department, 2400 Troost Ave., during regular clinic hours from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, from 8 a.m. to noon on Thursday.

Heat is a factor in resident’s death Saturday, August 22, 2009
A Kansas City, Mo., resident died July 5 from heat-related complications. The 52-year-old woman, who had a pre-existing health condition, lived in the central section of the city and was found dead in her home. According to the medical examiner’s report, she was last seen alive June 17.

Heat advisory in effect Saturday, August 22, 2009
The heat index was greater than 95 degrees by 11 a.m. today at the Kansas City International Airport and as a result the Health Department issued a summer heat advisory that will be in effect until further notice.
