FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 26, 2009
City offices closed July 3, trash service is not affected
No trash tags needed July 6-10
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Public Works Department is advising residents that although City offices will be closed on July 3, in observance of Independence Day, curbside trash, recycling and bulky collections will still take place on Friday, July 3. The City’s 3-1-1 Action Center, a division of the City Manager’s Office, will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on July 3-4.
The City’s Recycling Drop-off Centers will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 3, but will be closed on July 4. The City’s Leaves and Brush Drop-off centers will operate with an abbreviated schedule from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 4.
The week of July 6-10 is a “no tag” period for trash collection in the city. During this period, residents may set out more than two bags of trash without tags. This is done to accommodate the extra trash that is usually accumulated at this time.
For more information about solid waste collection services, visit http://www.kcmo.org/trash or call the 3-1-1 Action Center at 311 or (816) 513-1313.
Media inquiries about trash and recycling should be directed to Dennis Gagnon, public information officer for the Public Works Department, (816) 513-2659.
