City secures funding to continue Bridge Program at new regional jail
City of Kansas City, Mo., Councilwoman Cathy Jolly, 6th District at large, and chairwoman of the City’s Public Safety and Neighborhoods Committee, has announced that the $900,000 in funding needed to continue the Bridge Program at the new regional correctional system has been approved.
The Bridge Program delivers intensive, individualized services that address the needs of inmates incarcerated at the Municipal Correctional Institution who will be transferred to the new regional jail later this summer. The program includes diagnosis, counseling and case management. The outcomes are intended to end the cycle of incarceration with inmates in supportive stable housing.
The Public Safety and Neighborhoods Committee will receive a presentation update on the regional jail, including the continued funding for the Bridge Program, at its meeting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3 on the 26th floor of City Hall, 414 E. 12th St., Kansas City, MO 64106.
The Bridge Program is funded through The Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City with Truman Behavioral Health and Swope providing Qualified Mental Health Professionals for the project along with other community partners who will provide legal services, program evaluation, equipment and supplies.
