Trash collection delayed one day, City offices closed Jan. 1
In observance of New Year’s Day on Friday, Jan. 1, curbside trash and recycling collection will be delayed one day. Residents who usually have Friday trash and recycling collection will receive these services on Saturday, Jan. 2.
In addition, City of Kansas City, Mo., offices will be closed on Jan. 1.The 3-1-1 Action Center, a division of the City Manager's Office, will be closed as well.
The Solid Waste Division of the Public Works Department also reminds residents that Saturday, Dec. 26 through Thursday, Dec. 31 is a “no tag” period for trash collection in the City. During this time, residents can set out more than two bags of trash without tags. This is done to accommodate the extra trash that is usually accumulated at this time of year. Residents are encouraged to utilize the City’s unlimited curbside recycling to dispose of cardboard and seasonal gift boxes.
Christmas trees can be disposed of at the City’s Leaf and Brush Drop-off Centers. The centers will be open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturdays Jan. 2 through Jan. 16 and are located at 1815 N. Chouteau Trafficway (just south of the Missouri river) and 10301 Raytown Road (south of Interstate 470).
