Northwest Bryan Avenue reopens in Northland
Construction crews have reopened Northwest Bryan Avenue in the Northland to local traffic, providing east-west access to drivers off of Northwest Waukomis Avenue.
The road was closed in spring 2009 as part of the Northwest 64th Street-Northwest 68th Street connector project. When finished, this construction project will straighten and level Gower Road, providing a connector between Northwest 64th Street and Northwest 68th Street. The project also includes storm drainage improvements and replacement of water lines in the area.
“We are pleased to help provide east-west road access to the residents in this area, and we look forward to seeing Gower Road reopened to provide a useful thoroughfare for drivers in the Second District,” said Councilman Ed Ford, Second District at large.
Northwest Bryan Avenue will be reopened through spring 2010 for local traffic, but will close again briefly for completion of construction. The project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2010. The City’s Capital Improvements Management Office has overseen the design and construction of this project.
