Construction Workforce Agreement signing set for Dec. 15
A signing ceremony for the City of Kansas City, Mo., Construction Workforce Ordinance Memorandum of Agreement will be held Dec. 15. The event will be at 10:30 a.m. in the KCP&L Board Room on the 31st floor of One Kansas City Place, 1200 Main St.
Fifth District Councilman Terry Riley, chairman of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, will sign the agreement on behalf of the City. Participants also will include representatives of the Construction Workforce Board of Kansas City, Mo.; Tax Increment Financing Commission; Port Authority of Kansas City; Downtown Economic Stimulus Authority; Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority; Planned Industrial Expansion Authority; and the Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City, Mo.
The Memorandum of Agreement is based on Ordinance 070504 regarding construction workforce policies, adopted by the City Council on April 26, 2007. The ordinance, sponsored by Councilman Riley, established a construction employment program that sets goals for utilization of minority, women and resident workers on construction projects.
The intent of Memorandum of Agreement is to implement the policies contained in Ordinance 070504 with the participating agencies.
“We are pleased that all parties to this agreement are coming together and pledging to work diligently toward meeting the legal requirements and the legislative intent of the City’s construction employment program in order to achieve utilization goals for minority, women and resident workers on construction projects within Kansas City,” Riley said.
