Residents advised about wastewater spill on East 85th Street
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Water Services Department and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources report that a sewer overflow at 1300 E. 85th St. discharged an estimated 870 gallons of wastewater into a tributary that runs into the Blue River approximately 1 to 1.5 miles downstream. The City’s drinking water supply is not affected by this incident.
The overflow was discovered and corrected on Nov. 2, 2009. The overflow occurred because of debris that had collected in the sewer system. This area is inspected and cleaned each week.
