City Controller G. Mary Temple steps down
City of Kansas City, Mo., Chief Financial Officer Jeffrey A. Yates announced today that he will temporarily delegate the responsibilities of the position of city controller, following the Oct. 15 resignation of G. Mary Temple. Yates said Temple will resign her post effective Oct. 30 for personal reasons.
“Mary has been a tremendous asset to the City and we wish her the best in her future endeavors,” Yates said. “After Oct. 30, the City expects to retain Mary on a short-term contract basis, as her schedule allows, to transition through this period.”
The City Controller's Office provides information for management decision-making in planning and control, and establishes policy and procedures for the timely and accurate accumulation of data necessary for the preparation of financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. The office is led by the city controller and is comprised of the financial function support team of the City’s financial system application, financial reporting, payroll and accounts payable functions.
“Mary brought fresh ideas and private sector expertise to this organization and led a variety of accounting and financial reporting process improvements during her tenure with the City," City Manager Wayne A. Cauthen said. "She will be missed.”
Yates said the City will immediately begin a national search to fill the city controller position.
