Affordable Homes tour features 15 renovated properties for sale
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Housing and Community Development Department, along with Neighborhood Housing Services of Kansas City, Blue Hills Community Services and the Housing and Economic Development Finance Corp. will sponsor a tour of homes from noon to 4 p.m. on Sept. 10.
The 15 homes on the tour were built or renovated and made available for sale as part of the City’s partnership with community development corporations to provide more home ownership opportunities for moderate-income families. All of the homes showcased are available for purchase by home buyers who meet income guidelines.
A list of home locations and prices is available at http://www.kcmo.org/housing/HomesTour09.pdf. Representatives from the participating sponsors will be available at each home to answer questions.
In addition to low prices, buyers may be eligible to receive up to $20,000 in down payment and closing cost assistance as a forgivable loan from the Kansas City Dream Home Program. Consumers can also benefit from the first-time home buyer tax credit passed by Congress earlier this year. This credit, which expires on Nov. 30, provides up to an $8,000 tax credit for qualified buyers who haven’t owned a home during the past three years.
For more information about the tour or income guidelines, contact Shirley Winn, director of the Housing and Community Development Department at (816) 513-3036.
