City receives multiple wastewater treatment awards
The National Association of Clean Water Agencies recently awarded the City of Kansas City, Mo., Water Services Department three Gold Peak Performance Awards for 100 percent compliance with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permits for an entire year. The department also received three silver awards for receiving five or less National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit violations for an entire year.
The Westside Wastewater Treatment Plant, the Todd Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant and Fishing River Wastewater Treatment Plant received Gold Peak Performance Awards.
Silver Peak Performance Awards were given to the Blue River Wastewater Treatment Plant, Birmingham Wastewater Treatment Plant, and Rocky Branch Wastewater Treatment Plant.
"This is a tremendous honor for all of our plants and the City of Kansas City, Mo., and a particularly outstanding team effort by our associates,” Water Services Director Bernardo Garcia said.
