KCI Airport launches new KCI economy parking TV commercial

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Aviation Department has launched new 30- and 60-second television commercials on CNN’s Airport Network at Kansas City International Airport to promote KCI Economy Parking and its Web site,

The commercial was shot at KCI Airport in the Economy Parking Lot, on roadways and at Terminal C. The advertisement features former Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus clowns who arrive at the Economy Parking Lot crammed into a classic Morris Minor convertible. The fun starts as the clowns unfold themselves, unload their baggage and stumble onto a bus and ride to the terminal to catch their flight. In the process, a unicycle, a gag camera, juggling clubs and other shenanigans are featured. One robust female clown, really a male, ends the commercial by hitting the camera with a pie. The script reads, “Serious travelers save more with Economy Parking. Not-so-serious ones do, too. KCI Economy Parking. Only $5.50 a day.”

The ad follows on the heels of another whimsical TV commercial shot in 2007. It featured a chimpanzee using to book a flight, driving to KCI Economy Parking, riding the bus and boarding a jet.

“The new ad is an attention getter amidst the busy terminals and demonstrates the ease and convenience of parking and flying at KCI,” said Kansas City Aviation Director Mark VanLoh.

The commercial has been posted on YouTube (search “KCI Clown Ad”), is linked from and the Kansas City International Airport Facebook page
