Government contracting and procurement forum to be Aug. 27
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Human Relations Division of the City Manager’s Office will host the third annual Kansas City Government Contracting and Procurement Forum in partnership with the state of Missouri’s Office of Supplier and Workforce Diversity, Missouri Department of Transportation and the MidAmerica Minority Business Development Council. The forum will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 27 at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center, 2345 McGee St.
The procurement forum will provide attendees information regarding government contracting opportunities and best business practices for submitting bids. Information will also be provided on “How to Master the Maze of State Contracting Opportunities,” and “Financing Your Business in Economic Turmoil.” Several agencies are expected to award contracts on the spot. In-depth contracting information regarding the new $500 million Honeywell Corporate Headquarters Facility and the City’s $3 billion Water Services Department Sewer Rehabilitation Program will be presented.
This event will include an awards luncheon to recognize local contractors who have consistently demonstrated a commitment to small business development in the areas of professional service, construction work force and commodities. This event is sponsored by the City Aviation Department, KC Builders Association, MC Lioness Realty, Burns & McDonnell, Blue Cross Blue Shield of KC and the Human Rights Commission.
The workshops and exhibits are free and open to the public. There is a $40 charge to attend the awards luncheon and seating is limited.
