City names chief of staff for City Manager’s Office
City Manager Wayne A. Cauthen has appointed former two-term City of Kansas City, Mo., City Councilman Charles (Chuck) A. Eddy as chief of staff for the City Manager’s Office. Eddy will begin his duties Jan. 14.
Eddy has served the City in many roles throughout his career, including more than 25 years as a reserve police officer, before retiring as Captain and Commander of the Reserve Auxiliary Officers in 1994. In addition, Eddy has served on boards and commissions for the Mid-America Regional Council, Economic Development Corp., Bartle Hall Ballroom Expansion Oversight Committee, Convention and Visitors Bureau and Health Commission of Kansas City.
“Chuck brings a unique combination of service and knowledge of the City that will allow him to work with staff, the council and residents to help guide us through this critical time in Kansas City,” Cauthen said. “He understands the budget process as well as the importance of providing outstanding basic City services to our residents.”
As chief of staff, Eddy will be responsible for supervision of all administrative staff and City department heads, and will serve as an advisor to the city manager.
“I’m looking forward to working with the city manager and the staff to further serve the residents of the city,” Eddy said. “We are in a challenging time, and we must be extra vigilant about making sure our limited resources are used efficiently and effectively to maintain basic City services. My years of experience in government and civil involvement will be an asset in this new position.”
Eddy has a doctorate degree in chiropractic medicine from Cleveland Chiropractic College and attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
