Auditions for youth talk show host and reporter to be Oct. 18 Tuesday, October 14, 2008

Flu shots available at the Health Department Wednesday, October 1, 2008
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Health Department is offering flu shots to adults and children age 3 and older. The shots are available during regular clinic hours, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Health Department, 2400 Troost Ave.

Health Department accreditation renewed by state agency Wednesday, October 1, 2008

City awarded $7.3 million to combat housing/foreclosure crisis Friday, September 26, 2008
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development today announced that the recently passed Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 will provide the City of Kansas City, Mo., with $7,323,734 in funding to help stabilize neighborhoods hit hard by foreclosures and sub-prime mortgages. The state of Missouri will receive $42,664,187, and the City will have the opportunity to access a portion of that money for the same purpose.

WSD Waterways Manager named to National Committee on Levee Safety Thursday, September 25, 2008
WSD Waterways Division Manager Karin Jacoby was appointed on September 16, 2008, by the Assistant Secretary of the Army, the Honorable John Paul Woodley, to serve on the National Committee on Levee Safety. The Committee is tasked with developing and presenting to Congress specific recommendations to improve levee safety, including a strategic plan for implementation of the program.
