FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Dec. 10, 2008
City Council to recognize Health Department for renewed accreditation
The City of Kansas City, Mo., City Council will recognize the Health Department on Dec. 11 at 3 p.m. during its legislative session for renewing accreditation with the Missouri Institute for Community Health. The legislative session is held on the 26th floor of City Hall, 414 E. 12th St.
The City Council resolution will recognize the efforts involved in renewing accreditation by employees, the Health Commission and community partners. During the legislative session, representatives from the Missouri Institute for Community Health will award the City with a plaque commemorating the accreditation renewal.
The Health Department was notified in September that the accreditation renewal application, which included more than 1,000 pages of documentation, was approved. The Health Department is one of three agencies out of 114 agencies reviewed in Missouri to be accredited at the comprehensive level after having received a score of 96 percent on 322 performance measures reviewed by the accreditation agency.
Representatives of the Health Department and the Missouri Institution for Community Health also will present information on the accreditation process to the City Council in the Business Session at 1:30 p.m. that same day.
