Wet Weather Community Panel September Meeting
The Kansas City Missouri Water Services Department's Wet Weather Solutions Program announces the August 2008 Wet Weather Community Panel meeting. Some topics of the meeting include an update from the Water Services Utility Funding Task Force; receive a report from the meeting on KC-One Stormwater priorities; receive an update from the EPA Response Team regarding the City's commitment towards green; receive an update from the Green Collaborative Team; and discuss green solutions.
The meeting on Tuesday, September 9th, will take place from 4 to 6 pm at Rockhurst University in Massman Hall Room 250 (Massman is located at 53rd Street and Tracy Avenue). Parking lots are located south of Massman Hall on Tracy Avenue.
The Community Panel, formed in 2003, is a mayoral appointed group of neighborhood representatives, business leaders, and environmental interests. As a part of the Wet Weather Solutions Program, the Panel is helping to shape a plan to address sewer overflows, stormwater management, waterway uses, and related matters. The Wet Weather Solutions Program was created by the City of Kansas City Missouri to lead a direct approach to reduce flooding, improve water quality and protect and restore the natural environment.
The Kansas City, Missouri Water Services Department maintains and operates water collection treatment and distribution systems, stormwater management and wastewater collection and treatment for residential and business customers in Kansas City, Missouri. The department also sells water to 33 wholesale customers in the metro area and treats wastewater for 27 satellite customers. Operation of all three utilities is funded entirely by fees charged to customers based on their use of products and services, not taxes.
