City's Premium Auto Auctions add online bidding

Pilot system starts with July 8 auction

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Tow Services Division is working with Sapulpa Auto Pool Inc. to provide an online bidding option for the City's Premium Auto Auctions. This option will be available starting with the July 8 auction.

"As we continue to try to make this the best experience possible for our customers, we are experimenting with some ways to keep in step with the services people want – one of which is the option to purchase items online in addition to in-person," said Lesly Forsberg, manager of the Tow Services Division of the Neighborhood and Community Services Department.

Some of the rules for the new Premium Auto Auction have changed due to the requirements of Sapulpa Auto Pool. A full list of these requirements can be read at https://www.sapulpapool.com/new/default.asp. The following are some of the requirements:

-Pre-registration and payment of the registration fee is required to participate and no sale day registration is available

-The purchased vehicles must be picked up in Harrisonville, Mo.

Instead of holding the Premium Auto Auctions quarterly, they may be held every other week if a sufficient numbers of cars are available. To view the cars online prior to the auction, visit https://www.sapulpapool.com/new/default.asp.

The goal of the City's Premium Auto Auctions is to provide opportunities for buyers to purchase cars at a lower than retail prices. There is no reserve on these vehicles and they will be sold to the highest bidder. Many of the vehicles being sold were obtained through police actions and seizures.

For more information about the Premium Auto Auctions, call Lesly Forsberg, manager of the Tow Services Division of the Neighborhood and Community Services Department, (816) 784-4092.

Media inquiries about this issue should be directed to Teresa L. Clark, public information officer for the Neighborhood and Community Services Department, (816) 513-3247.
