Shawnee Mission Parkway to reopen

Shawnee Mission Parkway is scheduled to reopen to traffic in both directions by 5 p.m. today. Works crews under the supervision of the Kansas City, Mo., Public Works Department worked late into the night to remove the damaged asphalt and will complete the repaving work and pavement markings today. The damage resulted from a Monday night accident when a vehicle ran into and broke a fire hydrant, causing water to flood the roadway.

Crews will continue to work on State Line Road from Shawnee Mission Parkway to 51st Street. It will remain closed for the next two days. The repairs are expected to be completed and the roadway open to traffic by 5 p.m. on Friday.

Access to all businesses on State Line Road is available from 51st Street.
