Low-cost, drive-thru rabies clinic July 8
The Animal Health and Public Safety Division of the City of Kansas City, Mo., Neighborhood and Community Services Department is offering low-cost rabies vaccinations for pets July 8 from 9-11 a.m. at the City's animal shelter at 4400 Raytown Road. Spay and Neuter Kansas City, Wayside Waifs and AnimalKind are partnering with the City to provide this drive-thru clinic.
The goal of this event is to help to keep the community safer by providing rabies vaccinations, City licensing and spay and neuter vouchers to pet owners who cannot otherwise afford these services.
"The owners of pets who live in other cities are welcome to attend this clinic," said Mike Schumacher, manager of the Animal Health and Public Safety Division.
The pets of residents of Kansas City, Mo., must be licensed before being vaccinated; licenses will be available at the clinic for $7 for altered pets and for $30 for unaltered pets. Vouchers will be available for spay/neuter services. Owners who have their pets altered within 30 days of buying a license (at this event) will receive a $23 refund on the cost of the license.
At this event, $5 rabies vaccinations will be available for pets from these targeted ZIP codes: 64109, 64124, 64125, 64126, 64127, 64128, 64130, 64131, 64132 and 64134. Others will be charged $10.
Also at this event, the owners of pit bulls will be offered $20 cash incentives if they agree to have their unaltered pit bulls spayed or neutered.
