Camp will teach young performers
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Youth Advocacy Office (City Manager's Office) is seeking dancers, singers, rappers, poets and other performers ages 12-18 for an eight-week educational camp devoted to the fine and performing arts.
This is an opportunity for 20 young people to develop skills, creativity and self confidence through art, dance, music, theater and production, and to perform at local venues. The camp is from June 13 to Aug. 4, Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Gregg Klice Community Center, 1600 E. 17th Terrace. Performers Lisa Henry Bowen and Carlos Smith are the instructors. The cost is $400, which can be paid in $50 weekly installments.
The registration deadline is May 31 and can be completed online at www.kcmo.org/youth. Applicants must audition June 3 at the Gregg Klice Community Center. They must check in between 10 and 10:30 that morning and remain on the site until they complete their auditions. The judges and instructors will hold auditions until 4 p.m.
