Low-cost, drive-thru rabies clinic May 6

The Animal Health and Public Safety Division of the City of Kansas City, Mo., Neighborhood and Community Services Department is offering low-cost rabies vaccinations for pets May 6 from 8 a.m. until noon at the City's animal shelter at 4400 Raytown Road. Spay and Neuter Kansas City, Wayside Waifs and AnimalKind are partnering with the City to put on this drive-thru clinic.

"This clinic is an opportunity for residents to get their pets vaccinated without leaving their cars," said Mike Schumacher, manager of the Animal Health and Public Safety Division.

The pets of residents of Kansas City, Mo., must be licensed before being vaccinated; licenses will be available at the clinic for $7 for altered pets and for $30 for unaltered pets. Vouchers will be available for spay/neuter services. Owners who have their pets altered within 30 days of buying a license (at this event) will receive a $23 refund on the cost of the license.

At this event, $5 rabies vaccinations will be available for pets from these targeted ZIP codes: 64109, 64124, 64125, 64126, 64127, 64128, 64130, 64131, 64132 and 64134. Others will be charged $10.

For more information, call Spay and Neuter Kansas City, (816) 353-0940, or the Animal Health and Public Safety Division, (816) 513-9800.
