Youth commissioners launch resource line

Area youth are encouraged to call the Kansas City Youth Commission's newly created Youth Resource Line, (816) 513-1377, for information about education, sports, employment, community service opportunities, leadership training, youth recognition, and arts projects.

“This line will help my peers and me connect and become aware of the resources that will assist us in our academic and personal goals,” said Grace JaNae Boyd. Boyd is a member of the Kansas City Youth Commission.

The youth commission is made up of a diverse group of 17 young people between the ages of 12-21 who serve as the official youth voice in local government. The mission of the youth commission members is to represent and effectively advocate for the needs and wants of Kansas City's youth and to encourage involvement in the political arena of Kansas City. The Kansas City Youth Commission meets every second and fourth Monday at 4:30 p.m. in City Hall on the 10th floor.

For more information about the Youth Resource Line or the Kansas City Youth Commission, call Thalia Cherry, youth advocate in the City Manager’s Office, (816) 513-1378.
