Aim4Peace, Baker University to sponsor job and resource fair Nov. 12

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Health Department’s Aim4Peace: Violence Prevention Program will join with Baker University to host a job and resource fair on Tuesday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Brush Creek Community Center, 3801 Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd. There will be a free resume writing workshop at 9 a.m. for those hoping to improve their resumes and increase their employment opportunities in the future.

“Our goal with this event is to decrease some of the factors contributing to stress that may lead to violence by increasing access to jobs, health services and educational opportunities in the community,” said Tracie McClendon Cole, manager of the Aim4Peace program. “You don’t want to miss this job fair.”

This free event will have employers onsite ready to hire area residents to fill open positions in marketing, maintenance, food industry and educational fields. More than 10 schools, including Baker University, Metropolitan Community College and the Kansas City Art Institute, will be present to speak with prospective students about enrollment, programs and degree paths.

Some of the confirmed businesses participating include Quintiles, Aerotek, ADT Safe Haven, FedEx, Woodley Building Maintenance, Cargill, T-Mobile, Encompass Consulting Group and the Full Employment Council.
