Bridge construction closes section of I-670 this weekend
Girder installation begins Friday night
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Public Works Department is notifying motorists that Interstate 670 on the south side of the downtown Kansas City loop will close Friday, Oct. 18 at 8 p.m. The closure, which will end the evening of Sunday, Oct. 20, will allow crews to place girders for the new Main Street bridge over Interstate 670.
The $2.75 million project will replace the Main Street bridge crossing with a new, three-lane concrete bridge over I-670. It will improve vertical clearance and address ongoing traffic needs in the area. In addition, crews will widen sidewalks on the bridge, improve crosswalks and ramps on Truman Road, and install updated lighting and decorative fencing on the bridge.
Detour signs will be posted during the closure. The Main Street bridge will remain closed until substantial completion of the project in early November.
