Northeast 104th Street at Highway 291 closes Monday for improvements
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Public Works Department is advising residents that Northeast 104th Street from Highway 291 to North Huttig Street will close for roadway improvements beginning Tuesday, Sept. 3.
While Northeast 104th Street is closed, detour routes will be marked along A Highway and Highway 291 / Northeast Cookingham Drive.
This $2 million project will improve a two-lane arterial street section, adding a sidewalk, curbs, gutters and streetlights. The vertical alignment will be upgraded to improve sight distance and the intersection of Northeast 104th Street and Highway 291 will be re-located.
The improvement is paid for by bonds recently issued by the Shoal Creek Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District. The Shoal Creek TIF District is using the tax revenue generated in the Route 152 and Flintlock commercial district to pay for off-site street improvements along the Northeast 104th Street, Northeast 108th Street, North Eastern Avenue, Northeast 76th Street and Shoal Creek Parkway corridors.
This work is being completed by the City’s Public Works Department and Hunt Midwest for the Shoal Creek Tax Increment Financing District.
The road is scheduled to reopen in early 2014 pending favorable weather.
