City debuts Quick Tax online tax portal on June 10
The City of Kansas City, Mo., will launch a new online revenue portal on Monday, June 10 that will allow residents and businesses to pay their taxes electronically. Called Quick Tax, this portal will streamline the online tax process and offer taxpayers more options than previously available.
The Quick Tax Web portal will support the essential functions of tax administration and compliance for the earnings tax, business license tax, utility taxes, convention and tourism taxes, and the arena fee. Other taxes, including special assessments, will be incorporated in 2014.
Quick Tax will also offer many other new options. For example, taxpayers not having taxes withheld may make estimated tax payments throughout the year. It will also allow residents to control account access for their tax preparers.
Taxpayers who wish to use Quick Tax must first register online at www.kcmo.org beginning June 10. Registration will require basic information, such as the taxpayer’s federal identification or social security number, mailing address and three forms of identification for verification purposes. Once registered, taxpayers can log in to their secure personal account to view information about previous filings and payments (from rollout forward), refund statuses, bills and filing requirements.
Please note that during the cutover period, there may be some service delivery delays for new business licenses, business license refunds and tax clearances.
