City provides update to Plaza fire
The City of Kansas City, Mo., reported during a 10:30 a.m. press conference that a body has been recovered at the scene of the Plaza fire. Positive identification has not been made on the body at this time. The investigation is ongoing at the scene, and crews are working to establish what happened to cause this explosion and fire.
The City’s Fire Department has confirmed that they transported nine injured victims to hospitals last night. As of this morning, six remain in the hospital: three are in critical condition, one is in serious condition and two are stable. Three patients have been released.
Natural gas has been restored to all buildings in the Plaza area. Residents may call Missouri Gas Energy at 1-800-582-1234 to relight their pilots.
Please be advised that Belleview Avenue and Roanoke Parkway are closed between 47th Street and Ward Parkway. Residents are strongly advised to avoid this area.
As one investigation is ongoing, the City is ramping up to battle the snow. Preparation is underway. Please pay attention to the weather forecast.
