The City of Kansas City, Mo.’s Active Living KC initiative invites residents to attend its Wellness Walk on Saturday, May 5 from 11 a.m. to noon. The 1.2 mile walk will begin at the Hickman Mills Junior High gymnasium, 9010 Old Santa Fe Road, and continue onto the 3-Trails Corridor Trail.

EPA’s ENERGY STAR certification awarded to City Hall Thursday, April 26, 2012
The City of Kansas City, Mo., City Hall building has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR certification. This honor is given to buildings that perform in the 75th percentile nationwide for energy efficiency and meet strict energy efficiency performance levels set by the EPA. City Hall received an energy efficiency score in the 92nd percentile, an impressive feat considering City Hall, located at 414 E. 12th St., was built 75 years ago.

Update: Sign sweep removes more than 4,300 signs Friday, April 20, 2012
The City of Kansas City, Mo., conducted a sign sweep on Tuesday, April 17 to pick up and dispose of illegal signs in an effort to improve the appearance of the City’s neighborhoods. While a previous press release reported that about 1,500 illegal signs were removed, that number was not a final count and did not include the additional 3,634 illegal signs that the City’s Street and Traffic Division collected and destroyed.

The City of Kansas City, Mo., conducted a sign sweep on Tuesday, April 17 to pick up and dispose of illegal signs in an effort to improve the appearance of the City’s neighborhoods. The Public Works and Neighborhood and Community Services departments staffed this one-day effort in conjunction with neighborhood volunteers. They removed approximately 1,500 illegal signs all over the City.

Residents advised about wastewater overflow into the Hickman Mills Creek Watershed Wednesday, April 18, 2012
Water Services reports a wastewater overflow due to a grease blockage. Investigations crews responded to a dry weather manhole overflow at 10036 Bennington at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday, April 17th that was overflowing at the rate of five gallons per minute due to a grease clog in the sewer line. The overflow was stopped at 5:50 p.m.
