Residents advised about wastewater overflow in the Upper Shoal Creek Watershed

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Water Services Department reports a wastewater overflow due to a debris blockage in the sewer line. An overflowing manhole was discovered in a wooded area near 9105 N.E. 85thTerrace on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 at 11 a.m.

Wastewater was discharged at a rate of approximately 1/2 gallon per minute during the overflow of an estimated 45 gallons. The wastewater was absorbed into the ground. Wastewater did not reach state waters. The overflow ended at 12:30 p.m. Lime was applied to the affected soil.
