Residents advised about wastewater overflow near 5701 E. 87th St.

The Kansas City, Mo., Water Services Department reported a wastewater overflow due to a leaking sewer encasement near 5701 E. 87th St. on Thursday, Aug. 9 at 9 a.m.

Approximately 9,400 gallons were discharged during the overflow, a storm drainage creek contained the sewage, and clean up is being performed. The overflow ended at 4:50 p.m., and the sewage did not reach a waterway.
