Kansas City performance arts to shine on PBS, Friday, July 20

The City of Kansas City Mo., reminds residents that the Kansas City Symphony will be featured in a nationally-televised documentary broadcast on Friday, July 20 at 9 p.m. on PBS, including KCPT Channel 19.1 in Kansas City. The program, Homecoming: the Kansas City Symphony Presents Joyce DiDonato, was recorded in the new Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, which is supported by the City’s Arts Center Garage.

The City understands the importance of culture and the arts as a part of the unique appeal to urban living. National and local television audiences will not only gain a glimpse of one of the world’s great performance venues, but also the cultural opportunities experienced in Kansas City.

The broadcast features talents of the Grammy Award-Winning musicians of the Kansas City Symphony, artistic director and conductor Michael Stern and internationally celebrated mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato, a native of the Kansas City region.
