Neighborhood Advisory Council hosts public meeting June 5

Council seeking new members to fill open positions

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Neighborhood Advisory Council will host its first public community meeting this evening, Tuesday, June 5 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Plaza Library’s Large Meeting Room, 4801 Main St. The Neighborhood Advisory Council is also seeking candidates for its 15-member council. There are currently two open Northeast Regional seats and one open Northwest Regional seat.

Both prospective applicants and the general public are invited to attend tonight’s meeting. Neighborhood Advisory Council members will formally introduce themselves and let those in attendance know what resources they offer. Other topics for the meeting include: trash and recycling, code enforcement and the new reBUILD/KC Neighborhood Mini Grant Program.

Neighborhood Advisory Council members meet monthly to discuss proposed City policies and programs and make recommendations to the director of the City’s Neighborhood and Community Services Department. They are also expected to meet with groups in their regions and participate in other related events, including public hearings and forums to discuss key issues and receive input on a variety of community matters.

To be eligible, candidates must prove residency, be a registered Missouri voter, not have any outstanding warrants or delinquent taxes, and not have any conflicts of interest with the work of the Advisory Council.
