Health Department director named to first National Accreditation Committee
Kansas City, Mo., Health Department Director Rex Archer, MD, MPH, has been selected by the Public Health Accreditation Board as one of 11 public health professionals nationwide to serve on the first National Accreditation Committee.
“I appreciate the passion that Dr. Archer has for public health,” said City Manager Troy Schulte. “The leadership to further the health of Kansas City and to elevate the standards of public health nationwide is an asset to our community.”
The Public Health Accreditation Board was created to serve as the national, non-profit organization that administers the accreditation process for state, local, tribal and territorial health departments and is jointly funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
The Kansas City, Mo., Health Department is seeking to be in the first group of accredited health departments in the nation. Dr. Archer will not participate in discussions or evaluations of the Kansas City application.
