City names Green Impact Zone liaison

City of Kansas City, Mo., City Manager Wayne A. Cauthen has named Deletta Dean as the City’s Green Impact Zone liaison. Dean will serve on the Green Impact Zone Coordinating Committee along with Green Impact Zone Administrator Anita Maltbia from the Mid-America Regional Council.

On Aug. 4, Dean convened the Green Impact Zone Coordinating Committee, a body comprised of City staff responsible for zone service delivery. Dean currently serves as the manager of the City’s Neighborhood Services Division of the Neighborhood and Community Services Department.

“Deletta has more than 15 years of experience in delivering services and administering public programs in the City of Kansas City, Mo.,” City Manager Wayne A. Cauthen said. “She has a comprehensive understanding of the area impacted by the Green Zone and will work well with congressional leaders, city staff and neighborhood leaders.”

Dean is a graduate of the Kansas City Civic Council’s Kansas City Tomorrow leadership program and holds a bachelor’s degree in public administration and a master’s degree in public affairs.

The Green Impact Zone is bounded by 39th Street on the north, 51st Street on the south, Troost Avenue on the west and Prospect Avenue to 47th Street over to Swope Parkway on the east. Directly effected are the neighborhoods of Ivanhoe, Blue Hills, 49/63 and Manheim and Town Fork Creek.

The overarching goal of the zone is to train and put residents of these neighborhoods to work weatherizing every home that is eligible within the zone.
