Youth Office sponsors town hall meeting June 29
Local and national elected leaders expected to attend
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Youth Advocacy Office, a division of the City Manager's Office, and the Kansas City Youth Commission are hosting a town hall meeting with U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill, U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II, members of the School Board, City Manager Wayne A. Cauthen and members of the City Council., for youth ages 12-25.
The event is from 9-10:30 a.m. on June 29 at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Pierson Auditorium, and is sponsored by the UMKC School of Education and the Kansas City Youth Commission. Youth are encouraged to come to the event and voice comments or concerns.
Teachers and community members are encouraged to attend this event, however, only youth will be permitted to actively participate in the town hall. Leaders in the Kansas City community will be present to share information and give young people a sense of what they can do in the community.
The Youth Commission was established in 2005 as the official youth voice in the City’s decision-making process. Commissioners from across the city represent their peers during one-year terms.
