Hoop it Up tournament in Kansas City July 9-10
Downtown Kansas City has scored another win in bringing back the Hoop it Up 3on3 basketball tournament July 9-10. Local youth are invited to grab their basketballs and head to the streets of downtown Kansas City to compete to see who is “King of the Court.”
In recent years, the event was held at the Truman Sports Complex, but through a partnership with Crestline Sports, the City’s Youth Advocacy Office is bringing the event back downtown. The streets identified for this outdoor tournament are:
–– Wyandotte Street – between Ninth and 10th streets
–– Baltimore Street – between Ninth and 10th streets
–– 10th Street – between Wyandotte and Baltimore streets
–– Ninth Street – between Wyandotte and Main streets.
“As downtown continues to renew itself and grow, we are looking forward to providing a great family atmosphere with the Hoop it Up tournament,” said Thalia Cherry, manager of the Youth Advocacy Office.
The Hoop it Up 3on3 events offer basketball players of varying skill levels who are 8 years old and older the opportunity to compete on teams of their own choosing in organized tournaments. The teams that place first, second, third or fourth in each division will qualify for the world championships at Walt Disney World in September. Additionally, the champions and finalists from each division will receive either a medal or a wood plaque.
The cost to register a team is $130 and the deadline for the Kansas City event is July 4.
