City names acting court administrator
Anthony L. Miller has been appointed as the acting court administrator for the Municipal Court of the City of Kansas City, Mo. Miller will take over duties Jan. 2 from Bernard Schneider, who is retiring after more than 26 years of service.
Miller has served as assistant court administrator since January 2008 and as assistant to the court administrator from 2006 to 2008. Miller also was a fellow in the City’s L.P. Cookingham Management Fellowship Program from 2001 to 2002. Before returning to the City, Miller worked for the Full Employment Council and General Motors Corp.
“Anthony has worked closely with Bernard and has demonstrated natural leadership skills, an in-depth understanding of the department and a good work ethic,” City Manager Wayne A. Cauthen said.
As acting court administrator, Miller will be responsible for all non-judicial duties of the court, including purchasing, budgeting, records management and supervision of a staff of nearly 70 employees. He also will work with Municipal Court judges to continue to ensure department processes are efficient for customers.
Miller has a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, a master’s degree in business administration from Baker University and a bachelor’s degree in urban affairs from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
