City employees undertake holiday food drive
City of Kansas City, Mo., employees are working together to collect canned goods for the 2008 iCan food drive, which runs until Dec. 19. The drive will support the Harvesters Community Food Network.
“This was an employee-driven initiative to come together to help some less fortunate residents have a better holiday season,” said Wayne A. Cauthen, City Manager. “Even in tough economic times, I am confident our employees will make substantial donations to help Harvesters.”
City employees can donate canned goods or funds, which will go directly to families in the metro area. Employees can drop off canned goods in Harvesters boxes provided to each department at various locations throughout the City, or donate online at http://www.kc.harvesters.org.
Harvesters is Kansas City’s only food bank, providing nutritious meals to more than 60,000 hungry people every week.
