City presents new Popular Annual Financial Report to better inform residents
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Finance Department’s recently released Popular Annual Financial Report is now available online. This new report provides residents and other interested parties with an easy-to-understand overview of the City’s finances.
To view the Popular Annual Financial Report or the Fiscal Year 2011 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, please visit the City’s Finance Department Web page at www.kcmo.org/finance.
The Government Finance Officers Association encourages governments to issue a “popular” report as a supplement to the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report to simplify the information and better inform the public about the overall financial condition of the City, without heavy use of technical accounting terms or excessive detail.
The Popular Annual Financial Report supplements and summarizes the detailed Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. It is un-audited and not intended to provide a complete financial picture of the City.
The Finance Department presented both the Popular Annual Financial Report and the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report to the City’s Finance, Governance and Ethics Committee on Nov. 16.
Questions and feedback concerning any of the information provided in the reports are encouraged and may be directed to the City Controller’s Office via mail to 414 East 12th St., Kansas City, Mo., 64106, via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or via telephone at 816-513-1187.
