City suspends taxicab driver for 17 days

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Regulated Industries Division of the Neighborhood and Community Services Department and Mekedem Belete, a taxicab driver, have agreed to a 17-day suspension of Belete’s taxicab driver’s certificate.

The suspension will begin on Monday, Nov. 21 and end Thursday, Dec. 8. The suspension is the result of Belete’s attempt to solicit business illegally at the Kansas City International Airport and for interfering with an inspection. This is Belete’s second violation for soliciting business illegally in Kansas City, Mo., within the last 12 months. During the suspension, Belete will not be allowed to operate a taxicab in the City of Kansas City, Mo.
