Recycling events set for electronics, holiday lights, paper shredding
The holidays are coming! De-clutter your household by taking advantage of three special recycling events announced by the City of Kansas City, Mo.
Electronics may be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15 at the Sprint Center, 14th Street and Grand Boulevard. Vintage Tech will accept computers, wires and cables, scanners, laptops, computer parts, microwaves, CRTs and LCDs, battery back-ups, cell phones, monitors, computer mice, CD/VCR/DVD players, printers, keyboards, stereo equipment, televisions, MP3 players, fax machines, PDAs and video game consoles. A tax-deductible donation of $5 to $15 per item ($25 per wooden console television) is suggested. Participants may enter a drawing to win tickets to upcoming Sprint Center events.
Paper shredding will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 16 at the City’s Metro North Recycling Center, 400 N.W. Barry Road. Media Services will accept all kinds of paper with a three-box/bag limit. A tax-deductible donation of $5 is suggested.

Holiday lights and extension cords may be recycled at the City’s three drop-off recycling centers from Nov. 15 through Feb. 15. The centers are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday:
• North—Metro North Mall (northwest parking lot), 400 N.W. Barry Road
• South—former Wal-Mart Supercenter parking lot, 9051 Hillcrest Road
• Environmental Campus—4707 Deramus Ave.
