Major construction ends on 22nd Street
The City of Kansas City, Mo is advising motorists that crews will reopen 22nd Street to general traffic between Tracy Avenue and Brooklyn Avenue, signaling the substantial completion of construction on that roadway.
Work started in spring 2009 on the $9 million project, which provides roadway improvements along the 22nd Street corridor from Tracy Avenue to Brooklyn Avenue. These improvements include drainage, paving, curbing, signage and installation of retaining walls, traffic signals, street lights and other amenities.
Landscaping and tree planting will continue to take place for several weeks, but this will not impact traffic. Traffic signals will be set to flash on the roadway for the next few weeks. This is standard procedure and will allow staff to address any potential signal issues early.
The Capital Projects Office managed the project for the City’s Public Works Department. Construction is scheduled for completion in late 2010.
