City announces KCStat Dashboard, an online tool that shows progress toward City goals and priorities

The City of Kansas City, Mo., City Manager’s Office is pleased to announce the KCStat Dashboard, an innovative online tool that shows the City Council’s 24 priorities, the City’s goals regarding those priorities, and the current progress toward each goal in real time. The KCStat Dashboard may be accessed at

“The KCStat Dashboard is the City’s way of helping residents see how we’re doing at our job of serving them,” said Mayor Sly James. “Our residents deserve nothing less than a city government based on data-driven results, and KCStat is a great tool for benchmarking our results towards making Kansas City best.”

KCStat is a monthly public meeting in which the mayor, city manager and department directors measure and monitor progress toward the City Council’s 24 strategic priorities to improve City services and government accountability. The Council grouped 23 priorities into six key outcome areas: Public Infrastructure, Economic Development, Public Safety, Healthy Communities, Neighborhood Livability, and Governance. One additional priority cuts across all outcome areas and concentrates on Customer Service and Communication.

KCStat analyzes and uses data from City departments’ performance measurements, the Citizen Satisfaction Survey and the 311 Call Center, which records all service and information requests, complaints and compliments.

This KCStat Dashboard provides an "at-a-glance" view of each priority's current status. The dashboard has a tile for each priority, grouped by outcome area. Clicking on a tile tells viewers the full story for that priority. The dashboard is best viewed using the following browsers: Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Internet Explorer 9 or higher.

The KCStat Dashboard currently features the Council’s priorities regarding public infrastructure, but the remaining outcome areas will be posted within six months.
