NW Bryan Avenue closes briefly to through traffic
Construction crews will close Northwest Bryan Avenue between Northwest Waukomis Avenue and Northwest 64th Street to through traffic for approximately a week, starting Tuesday, Oct. 19.
This closure will allow work crews to replace temporary road surface, which has been used as a detour during the Gower Drive improvement project. Detour routes will be posted during the closure.
This project will realign North Gower Drive in order to smooth out the connection of Northwest 64th Street with Northwest 68th Street/Northwest Waukomis Drive and upgrade traffic capacity in the area from two lanes to four lanes. In addition, the Bryan Avenue Bridge, three box culverts adjacent to Northwest Waukomis and a water main will be replaced.
Gower Drive reopened to through traffic in September. Work will continue on Northwest Waukomis Drive north of Gower until late October, at which point that roadway section will reopen to local traffic.
Construction started on the Gower Drive project in early 2009 and is scheduled for completion in late 2010. The Capital Projects Office is managing the design and construction of this project for the City.
