Weekend races affect traffic around Kansas City

The City of Kansas City, Mo., is notifying motorists that five races will affect traffic in different parts of Kansas City on Oct. 12-13.

The Inspired by Darrell Sublett 5K will begin on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Centennial United Methodist Church at 1834 Woodland Ave. Road closures take place from about 7:30-10 a.m. on the following race route: east on 19th Street; south on Brooklyn Avenue; west on 21st Street; north on Garfield Avenue; west on 20th Street; south on Euclid Street; east on 21st Terrace; south on Garfield Avenue; west on 22nd Street; north on Forest Avenue; west on 17th Street; north on Troost Avenue; east on Truman Street; and south on Woodland Avenue to finish at the church.

The GM5 5K will begin on Saturday, Oct .12 on the south side of Graceway Church, at 57th Street and McKinley Avenue. Road closures will take place from about 7:15-9 a.m. on the following race route: south on McKinley Avenue; west on 57th Terrace; south on Booth Avenue; west on 59th Street; north on Blue Parkway; east on 57th Street; north on Booth Avenue; west on 56th Terrace; east on 56th Street; north on Wallace Avenue; west on 55th Terrace; south on Rinker Road; east on 56th Street; east on 56th Terrace; south on Booth Avenue and east on 57th Street to finish at the church’s parking lot.

Running with the Angels – The Chad Rogers Memorial Run will begin on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Shoal Creek Community Church, 6816 N. Church Road. Road closures will take place from about 7:30-10 a.m. along the run’s 5K route: north on Fulton Road, which turns into North Stark Avenue; east on Northeast 76th Street; and north on North Flintlock Road to Northeast 82nd Terrace.

The Run for a Child will begin at the intersection of Vivion Road and North Norton Avenue on Saturday, Oct. 12. Road closures will take place from about 8:15-10 a.m. on the race route: south on North Norton Avenue; west on Northeast 46th Street; north on North Cleveland Avenue; west on Northeast 50th Terrace; south on Monroe Avenue; west on Northeast 50th Street; south on Northeast Sherwood Drive; west on Northeast 48th Terrace; south on Northeast Chouteau Drive; east on Northeast 47th Street; south on North Cleveland Avenue; east on Northeast 46th Street; and north on North Norton Avenue to finish.

The Bill Cross Run/Walk for Back Snack 5K will take place in Zona Rosa on Sunday, Oct. 13 from about 8-10 a.m. During the race, all Zona Rosa entrances/exits will be closed, although Zona Rosa employees, residents and customers will be permitted access when there is a break in runners/walkers.
