Alcohol Beverage Advisory Group to meet Oct. 1

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Alcohol Beverage Advisory Group will conduct its next meeting Oct. 1 at 9 a.m. at the Regulated Industries Division office at Century Towers, 635 Woodland Ave. These meetings are held every other month and the next one is scheduled for Dec. 3.

At the Oct. 1 meeting, the group will discuss the convention trade area 3 a.m. closing permit and the nominees for the vacant clergy member position. Discussion about the 3 a.m. closing permit will focus on the fact the licenses are non-transferable. If a business is established at one location and has an approved 3 a.m. license, the owners will not automatically be able to move to another location and keep that license. The current ordinance does not specifically cover this issue. For this reason, the Alcohol Beverage Advisory Group will discuss the possibility of adding more specific information about this stipulation to the ordinance.

For more information about this meeting, call Gary Majors, manager of the Regulated Industries Division of the Neighborhood and Community Services Department, (816) 784-9020.

Media inquiries about this issue should be directed to Teresa L. Clark, public information officer for the Neighborhood and Community Services Department, (816) 513-3247.
