FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Sept. 24, 2008
Survey work for Arrowhead Transmission Main Phase 2 begins
Surveyors will be working along North Oak from approximately 9 Highway to Vivion Road over the next several months gathering data for design of Phase 2 of the Arrowhead Transmission Main. Temporary lane closures will be necessary for the field crews to safely collect the needed information.
The Arrowhead Transmission Main Phase 2 will include the construction of approximately 12,000 feet of 54-inch transmission main beginning at the water plant to a point south of the intersection of Northeast Vivion Road and North Oak Trafficway. Construction of the transmission main is expected to begin by Spring 2009. Intermittent road closures on North Oak Trafficway are expected during construction ending Spring 2010. Please see the attached map.
The Arrowhead Transmission Main is being constructed to convey Kansas City’s top quality drinking water from the water plant to the Arrowhead Pump Station. The new transmission main will increase capacity to accommodate growth and improve system reliability in the Northland.
